We are going to use Home Assistant and DOODS to detect objects in camera images locally. That means no Cloud services or internet connection is required for the image recognition part it’s just Home Assistant, DOODS and your camera.

DOODS uses machine learning to detect things. It’s already integrated into Home Assistant’s image_processing platform.

useage

The main weakness of machine learning is that it’s slow. Especially without specialized hardware. Attempting to do real-time detection (less than a few seconds) on multiple high-resolution cameras simultaneously is not feasible
